June 2024: Our lab attended the EMBO Symposium on Physics of Cell and Tissues at IISc. Nandhu and Sree presented posters showcasing their ongoing work.
May 2024: Tapa was invited to speak at IIT Bombay, where he described the lab’s ongoing work towards describing how the physical microenvironment regulates cellular growth and morphology. Thank you Prof. Sayantan Dutta for hosting!
May 2024: Our review on biomaterial platforms for 3D cell culture and 3D bioprinting was published in Biophysics Reviews and selected as a Featured Article. Read more here.
March 2024: Our lab attended its first in-person APS March Meeting at Minneapolis, USA. Ashitha, Sree, and Tapa gave talks on regulation of growth and morphology under 3D confinement. Sree received the APS-FIP Distinguished Student Program award. Congratulations Sree!
December 2023: Our lab attended CompFlu 2023 at IIT Madras. Thanks to Prof. Bidisha Sinha and Prof. PB Sunil Kumar for the invite. Ashitha, Nandhu and Sree presented their work in the poster sessions, and Tapa delivered a talk on bacterial growth under confinement. Ashitha and Sree won poster awards. Congrats!

June 2023 - Sree attended the FEBS Advanced Course on Mechanics in Biology at UGlasgow, for which he received the FEBS-IUBMB Transcontinental Travel Award. Congrats!

Jan 2023: Our lab was born in the darkness of covid times. This spring brought us the more natural joy of meeting people in person at the NCBS Annual Talks. Our grad students Sree and Ashitha presented posters on their work. Sree got the Promising Starts poster award. Congrats Sree!!
Feb 2023: We were very excited to join the EMBO Symposium on Physics of Cells and Tissues at IISc Bangalore. Tapa gave an invited talk. Thank you, Prof. Ramray Bhat and Dr. Mohit Jolly, for the invitation. Sree received the best poster presentation award. Congrats Sree!
Feb 2023: A bit of a bittersweet moment when we had to say goodbye to Saheli. After working with us as a graduate trainee for the past 1.5 years, Saheli has started her Ph.D. journey with Prof. Sarah Köster. Congratulations Saheli and best of luck!
July 2022: Our first collaborative work from NCBS got accepted for publication in Physical Review E. Read the paper here. It was our first collaborative work with Prof Rajarshi Chakrabarti, IITB. Many more to follow.
July 2022: Kiruthika got a Ph.D. offer from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. She will work with Dr. Aleksandar Antanasijevic. Kiruthika was the first MS student to intern at our lab. We said a bittersweet good bye to her.
June 2022: We had a lot of fun organizing and hosting the Soft Matter Young Investigator Meet, 2022 at Mysore. It was a fun discussion with the Soft Matter community of India.
